Wondering what fish you found?
Mikke helps you identify fish in two ways: photo AI and the Fish Q&A community.

When you find a fish you don’t recognize, take a photo and send it to the photo AI using Verify by Photo. It quickly suggests candidate species. Compare them to find your fish. Try it while fishing, playing by the water, or working on a summer science project.

The photo AI identifies fish at the species and family levels. If you can’t find a match under Name, check Family too. It covers about 2,000 fish species found in Japan. It does not support other animals, such as crustaceans, squid, or octopuses. See About Target Fish (Japanese).
If the photo AI can’t identify your fish, ask in Fish Q&A. If you know about fish identification, please help by answering questions. Fish Q&A covers about 6,000 fish species, mainly from Japan, with some from other countries. See How to Use Fish Q&A.
For everyone who loves fish
Mikke was developed using about 50,000 records from WEB Fish Pedia. We made many improvements behind the scenes to improve identification accuracy.
We believe we have achieved the best performance currently possible, but the system cannot guarantee a correct identification every time. Please keep this in mind and enjoy Mikke as a starting point for learning about fish.
All app features are free to use.
